Minister Narendra Modi Impressed by the fully solar-powered operations
at the Cochin
International Airport.
PM
has said that it should be an inspiring model for energy guzzlers
and suggested that
stadiums can tap the natural
resource for achieving power.
Modi described Cochin International Airport Limited
(CIAL) as the world's first fully solar
powered airport, here in a statement
issued by CIAL said here on Sunday.
CIL Managing
Director V. J. During a discussion with Kurien, the Prime Minister endorsed the
effort to exploit green energy for the operation of the airport, which has won
the United Nations Champions of the Earth award in 2018, the statement said..
The CIAL model of solarization should motivate all other high-energy
consumers, Modi said
that the possibilities of laying solar panels should be
detected in possible locations. They also suggested that the roof of the
galleries of stadiums could be used for this.
It is important for our country to achieve power neutrality for large energy consumers, "CIAL's
statement has been said in reference to the Prime
Minister. Modi instructed CIAL to present
his expertise for the large scale
deployment of solar energy, which was initiated in collaboration
with the
International Organization for the Solar Alliance (ISA) of 78 countries. As
part of the
ISA's project, the messengers from 40 countries visited CIAL solar
power plants last month.
CIAL is currently one of the
largest green energy companies in the country, with a total installed capacity
of 40 MWp.
The airport receives 1.62
million units of power from an average solar plant, whereas daily consumption
is approximately 1.52 million units
